AN ACT CONCERNING RATES OF REIMBURSEMENT FOR EMERGENCY AMBULANCE TRANSPORTATION FEES PAID BY THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Subsection (b) of section 17b-276 of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from passage):
(b) Notwithstanding any other provision of the general statutes, for purposes of administering medical assistance programs, including, but not limited to, programs administered pursuant to Title XIX or Title XXI of the Social Security Act, the Department of Social Services shall be the sole state agency that sets emergency and nonemergency medical transportation fees or fee schedules for [any] transportation services that are reimbursed by the department for [said] such medical assistance programs. Effective July 1, [2011] 2014, the Commissioner of Social Services shall [reduce, by not more than ten per cent,] increase the rates in effect on [December 31, 2010,] the effective date of this section for emergency ambulance transportation fees that are directly reimbursed by the Department of Social Services [, provided the commissioner may increase such rates at such time when the commissioner determines there are sufficient funds and a reasonable need for such rate increase] to the extent required to restore such rates to the rates in effect on December 31, 2010.
Sec. 2. (Effective July 1, 2014) The sum of ____ dollars is appropriated to the Department of Social Services, from the General Fund, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015, to restore payment rates for emergency ambulance transportation fees to the rates in effect on December 31, 2010.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||
