AN ACT CONCERNING HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION CREDIT FOR COURSES COMPLETED AT REGIONAL COMMUNITY-TECHNICAL COLLEGES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 10-221a of the general statutes be amended to permit a local or regional board of education to grant, for purposes of the high school graduation requirements, credit for trade, science, technology, engineering or mathematics coursework successfully completed at a regional community-technical college; and that part I of chapter 185b of the general statutes be amended to require the Board of Trustees for the Community-Technical Colleges to establish an alternative pathways to high school graduation program to be offered at regional community-technical colleges to qualifying students at a reduced credit tuition cost to local and regional boards of education.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide high school graduation credit for students in STEM and trade-related education at regional community-technical colleges for the purpose of creating a skilled workforce in Connecticut.
