AN ACT REQUIRING NOTICE AND PUBLIC HEARING OF NEW RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES FOR OFFENDERS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to require the Commissioner of Correction to (1) provide written notice to the chief executive officer of any municipality where a residential program for offenders is proposed to be located not less than thirty days prior to the commissioner entering into the agreement or lease concerning such program, and (2) hold a public hearing in the municipality where such residential program is proposed to be located prior to the commissioner entering into such agreement or lease.
Statement of Purpose:
To require advance notice to communities regarding the siting of residential facilities for offenders.
