AN ACT REQUIRING MORE INTRUDER-RESISTANT SCHOOL BUILDINGS AND IMPROVED SECURITY METHODS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 541 of the general statutes be amended to require (1) school buildings to comply with new standards designed to limit the ability of unauthorized personnel to forcibly enter a school or to confine the intruder to certain areas of a school once inside the building, and (2) the installation of additional equipment, including, but not limited to, improved security equipment and better technology for communication both externally with first responders and internally.

Statement of Purpose:

To require schools to comply with new standards to make schools more resistant to intruders and more secure.
