AN ACT CONCERNING THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS IN CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING CASES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to provide that, notwithstanding the provisions of sections 52-577 and 52-577a of the general statutes, an action to recover damages for personal injury caused by exposure to carbon monoxide may be commenced within six years from the date of discovery that exposure to carbon monoxide was the cause of such injury, or within six years from the date when, through the exercise of reasonable diligence, the cause of such injury should have been discovered, whichever is later.

Statement of Purpose:

To extend the statute of limitations for personal injury claims emanating from exposure to carbon monoxide.
