AN ACT CONCERNING COLLECTION AND REMITTANCE OF THE HOTEL TAX BY ROOM REMARKETERS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 219 of the general statutes be amended to specify that persons who re-market hotel rooms collect and remit sales tax on the full price a consumer pays for the hotel room, rather than only on the portion of the room rate originally charged by the hotel to the room remarketer.

Statement of Purpose:

To ensure that sales tax is being paid on the full price a consumer pays to rent a hotel room, including that portion of the rent that is added on by a room remarketer in excess of the rent received by the hotel.
