AN ACT CONCERNING ADVANCE NOTICE OF HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUM RATE INCREASES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 38a of the general statutes be amended to require insurers delivering, issuing for delivery, renewing, amending or continuing health insurance policies in this state to provide at least sixty days' advance notice to affected policyholders of an increase in their premium rates, and to prohibit such rate increase from taking effect for a year if such notice is not provided to policyholders.

Statement of Purpose:

To require health insurers to provide at least sixty days' advance notice to affected policyholders of an increase in their premium rates.
