AN ACT AUTHORIZING BOARDS OF EDUCATION TO ADOPT A RATIO OF TWO HUNDRED FIFTY STUDENTS PER SOCIAL WORKER FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 170 of the general statutes be amended to allow local and regional boards of education to adopt a ratio of two hundred fifty students per social worker for the school district and to provide any board of education that adopts such ratio funds from the state's mental health funds to pay the costs associated with hiring any additional social workers to meet such ratio.

Statement of Purpose:

To allow boards of education to adopt a ratio of two hundred fifty students per social worker for the school district.
