AN ACT CONCERNING FIREARM PERMIT AND CERTIFICATE RECIPROCITY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 35 of the general statutes be amended to require the Attorney General to (1) annually publish a list of any state of the United States, or any political subdivision thereof, that issue permits or certificates to carry a concealed firearm with substantially similar standards for age, background investigation and training as required by subsection (b) of section 29-28 of the general statutes, and (2) negotiate and enter into agreements on behalf of the state of Connecticut with the appropriate authorities of any state of the United States, or any political subdivision thereof, granting reciprocity to any person with a firearm permit or certificate, provided such state or political subdivision has substantially similar standards for age, background investigation and training as required by subsection (b) of section 29-28 of the general statutes.
Statement of Purpose:
To secure firearm permit or certificate reciprocity between Connecticut and other states that have substantially similar standards for carrying a concealed firearm.
