AN ACT CONCERNING ELIGIBILITY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS AND SEASONAL AGRICULTURAL BUSINESSES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 567 of the general statutes be amended to update the base wage threshold triggering eligibility for unemployment benefits, to adjust such base wage threshold annually based on inflation and to exempt agricultural employers from participation in the unemployment compensation system unless their employees satisfy the base wage threshold for at least two consecutive quarters in a calendar year.
Statement of Purpose:
To update the basis on which unemployment benefits will be required to be paid and to protect agricultural businesses from disproportionate taxation based on the employment of seasonal workers.
