AN ACT PROVIDING A HARDSHIP EXEMPTION FROM JUROR SERVICE TO THE SOLE PROPRIETOR OF A SMALL BUSINESS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 51-217a of the general statutes be amended to provide the court with authority to excuse a juror from juror service upon a finding that such juror is the sole proprietor of a small business.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide a hardship exemption from juror service to the sole proprietor of a small business.
