AN ACT CONCERNING A PARENT'S OBLIGATION FOR SUPPORT OF A CHILD WHO IS ENROLLED IN AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That sections 46b-56c and 46b-84 of the general statutes be amended to provide that if there is an unmarried child of the marriage who has attained the age of eighteen and is enrolled in an institution of higher education, the parents of such child shall financially maintain the child according to their respective abilities until the child completes the program of higher education or attains the age of twenty-two, whichever occurs first.

Statement of Purpose:

To increase the age of child support for a child enrolled in an institution of higher education.
