AN ACT CONCERNING THE INVESTIGATION OF MISSING PERSON REPORTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapters 104 and 528 of the general statutes be amended to require that the state police and each municipal police department (1) immediately accept any report of an adult missing person; (2) mandate sensitivity training for all police officers; (3) issue to all police officers a compact disc for use in any police car detailing a step-by-step procedure to follow upon receipt of a report of a missing person; (4) complete National Crime Information Center missing person reports fully and timely; (5) train all new police officer recruits in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System; and (6) mandate collection of DNA from homicide victims and from John or Jane Does who are in a coma, have amnesia or have Alzheimer's disease.

Statement of Purpose:

To ensure that reports of missing persons are accepted and investigated by the police in an effective and timely manner.
