AN ACT CONCERNING INTIMIDATION ON ACCOUNT OF HOMELESSNESS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That sections 53a-181i to 53a-181l, inclusive, of the general statutes, concerning the crime of intimidation based on bigotry or bias, be amended to make it a violation of those statutes for a person, with the intent to intimidate or harass another person because of the actual or perceived homelessness of such person, to assault or threaten, or damage the property of, such other person.

Statement of Purpose:

To protect homeless persons by making it a hate crime to assault or verbally attack a person because of the actual or perceived homelessness of the person.
