AN ACT CONCERNING THE PROPERTY TAX ASSESSED ON A PRIMARY RESIDENCE OWNED BY THE SAME HOMEOWNER FOR THIRTY-FIVE OR MORE YEARS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to provide that a homeowner who owns the same primary residence for thirty-five or more consecutive years shall be liable for property tax calculated on the basis of the assessed value of the residence on the date the homeowner purchased the residence, plus the assessed value of any subsequent improvements to the property.

Statement of Purpose:

To limit the amount of property tax assessed on a primary residence owned by the same homeowner for thirty-five or more consecutive years.
