   Relative to the Yanks Air Museum.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SCR 36, as introduced, Cannella. Yanks Air Museum: Yanks Way off
ramp.
   This measure would designate the Yanks Way off ramp on State
Highway Route 101 in the County of Monterey as the official off ramp
to the Yanks Air Museum. The measure would also request the
Department of Transportation to determine the cost of appropriate
signs showing this special designation and, upon receiving donations
from nonstate sources covering that cost, to erect those signs.
   Fiscal committee: yes.



   WHEREAS, The Yanks Air Museum in the City of Greenfield is
identified as a key regional project in the County of Monterey in the
Region Five Regional Economic Recovery Plan; and
   WHEREAS, The construction and operation of Yanks Air Museum
utilizes both public and private partnerships and will have a
beneficial economic impact on the region that includes the creation
of 2,000 construction jobs and over 300 permanent jobs; and
   WHEREAS, The Yanks Air Museum will feature a world-class
collection of restored aircraft that reflect the entire spectrum of
American aviation history and technology; and
   WHEREAS, The Yanks Air Museum will be a working air museum with a
4,250 foot runway that will support both museum flight operations and
the private aviation needs of museum visitors and local aviators;
and
   WHEREAS, The Yanks Air Museum is dedicated to preserving our
nation's history in aviation and will serve as an educational
resource to surrounding schools, communities, and the region by
offering educational programs that feature advanced technology
teaching tools; and
   WHEREAS, The Yanks Air Museum complex, which will include a hotel
and spa, a winery, restaurants, and a recreational vehicle park, will
be a primary destination that will draw tourists to the region from
around the world; now, therefore, be it
   Resolved by the Senate of the State of California, the Assembly
thereof concurring, That the Legislature hereby designates the Yanks
Way off ramp on State Highway Route 101 in the County of Monterey as
the official off ramp to the Yanks Air Museum; and be it further
   Resolved, That the Department of Transportation is requested to
determine the cost of appropriate signs consistent with the signing
requirements for the state highway system showing this special
designation and, upon receiving donations from nonstate sources
sufficient to cover the cost, to erect those signs; and be it further

   Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate transmit copies of this
resolution to the Director of Transportation and to the author for
appropriate distribution.
