An act to add Section 11000.5 to the Government Code, relating to state agencies.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 921, as introduced, Morrell. State agencies: Internet Web sites: disclosure of financial information.

Existing law requires state departments and agencies to disclose certain information on their Internet Web sites, including their privacy policies and information related to certain of their duties.

This bill would require any state agency, as defined, that maintains or operates its own Internet Web site to post specified information regarding the number of persons it employs and its total authorized budget amount on its homepage.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.

Section 11000.5 is added to the Government Code, to read:

11000.5.

(a) Any state agency that maintains or operates its own Internet Web site shall post, immediately below the heading on the homepage, a brief disclosure in clear, legible table form, of the total number of persons it employs, both full time and part time, its total authorized budget amount, and the sources of it funding for the current and five preceding fiscal years.

(b) For purposes of this section, “state agency” has the same meaning as defined in subdivision (a) of Section 11000.
