CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE— 2019–2020 REGULAR SESSION

Senate Bill No. 432

Introduced by Senator Nielsen

February 21, 2019

An act to amend Section 25503.51 of the Business and Professions Code, relating to alcoholic beverages.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 432, as introduced, Nielsen. Alcoholic beverages: distilled spirits: instruction.
The Alcoholic Beverage Control Act, which is administered by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, regulates the application for, and issuance and suspension of, alcoholic beverage licenses. The act authorizes distilled spirits wholesalers and craft distillers to instruct licensees and their employees, or to conduct courses of instruction for licensees and their employees, on the subject of distilled spirits, as specified.
This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to that provision.

The distilled spirits manufacturer or distilled spirits manufacturer’s agent may furnish distilled spirits and the equipment, materials, and utensils that may be required for use in connection with the instruction or courses of instruction.
(b) The instruction or courses of instruction, authorized in pursuant to subdivision (a), may be given at the premises of the distilled spirits wholesaler or craft distiller, or of a licensee, including an on-sale retail licensee, or elsewhere.
