   An act to amend Section 50078.1 of the Government Code, relating
to local government.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 162, as introduced, Cox. Local government: fire suppression.
   Existing law, for the purposes of assessments for fire
suppression, defines fire suppression to mean firefighting and fire
prevention, including, but not limited to, vegetation removal or
management undertaken, in whole or in part, for the reduction of a
fire hazard.
   This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to this
provision.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 50078.1 of the Government Code is amended to
read:
   50078.1.  As used in this article, the following terms have the
following meanings:
   (a) "Legislative body" means the board of directors, trustees,
governors, or any other governing body of a local agency 
specified   that is included  in subdivision (b).
   (b) "Local agency" means any city, county, or city and county,
whether general law or chartered, or special district, including a
county service area created pursuant to the County Service Area Law
(Chapter 2.5 (commencing with Section 25210) of Part 2 of Division 2
of Title 3).
   (c) "Fire suppression" includes firefighting and fire prevention
 ,  including, but not limited to, vegetation removal or
management undertaken, in whole or in part, for the reduction of a
fire hazard.
