LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
Existing law gives a consumer the right to request that a business that maintains inaccurate personal information about the consumer correct that information, as specified.
This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to those provisions.
The California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 authorizes the Legislature to amend the act to further the purposes and intent of the act by a majority vote of both houses of the Legislature, as specified.
This bill would declare that its provisions further the purposes and intent of the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 130068.5 is added to the Health and Safety Code, to read:130068.5.
(a) Notwithstanding any other law, including, but not limited to, Sections 130060 and 130061, the department may waive the requirements for the Southern California Hospital at Culver City to comply with this chapter, in whole or in part, if both of the following occur:SEC. 2.
The Legislature finds and declares that a special statute is necessary and that a general statute cannot be made applicable within the meaning of Section 16 of Article IV of the California Constitution because of the unique financial challenges, labor and supply chain constraints that Southern California Hospital at Culver City is resolving while providing medical and care services during the COVID-19 pandemic to underserved and vulnerable populations.SEC. 3.
This act is an urgency statute necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within the meaning of Article IV of the California Constitution and shall go into immediate effect. The facts constituting the necessity are:(a)A consumer shall have the right to request that a business that maintains inaccurate personal information about the consumer correct that inaccurate personal information, taking into account the nature of the personal information and the purposes of the processing of the personal information.
(b)A business that collects personal information about consumers shall disclose, pursuant to Section 1798.130, the consumer’s right to request correction of inaccurate
personal information.
(c)A business that receives a verifiable consumer request to correct inaccurate personal information shall use commercially reasonable efforts to correct the inaccurate personal information as directed by the consumer, pursuant to Section 1798.130 and regulations adopted pursuant to paragraph (8) of subdivision (a) of Section 1798.185.
The Legislature finds and declares that this act furthers the purposes and intent of the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020.
