An act to repeal Section 7530 of the Business and Professions Code, relating to professions and vocations. vocations, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately.

Private Investigator Act: license: assignment.
Existing law, the Private Investigator Act, provides for the licensure and regulation of private investigators by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Existing law authorizes a licensee to apply for consent to assign a license to another business entity and, upon consent and payment of a processing fee, assign that license to another business entity as long as the direct and indirect owners of the assignor own all of the assignee immediately after the assignment. Existing law also provides that a license under that act is not assignable.
This bill would delete the provision of law that provides a license under that act is not assignable.
This bill would declare that it is to take effect
immediately as an urgency statute.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 7530 of the Business and Professions Code, as added by Section 9 of Chapter 669 of the Statutes of 2014, is repealed.SEC. 2.
This act is an urgency statute necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within the meaning of Article IV of the California Constitution and shall go into immediate effect. The facts constituting the necessity are:In order to avoid any possible ambiguity under existing law and to allow the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services to better process license applications for assignment currently being received, it is necessary for this act to take effect immediately.
