An act to amend Section 18030 of the Streets and Highways Code, relating to street lighting.

AB 744, as introduced, Rodriguez. Street Lighting Act of 1919.
The Street Lighting Act of 1919 authorizes the city council of any city, when in its opinion the public interest or convenience requires it, to order any street lighting system to be maintained in or along the whole or any part of any one or more of the streets in the city, and to order electricity or energy, gas, or another illuminating agent to be furnished for the street lighting system.
This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to these provisions.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 18030 of the Streets and Highways Code is amended to read:

18030.
 Whenever (a) When, in the opinion of the a city council of any city a city, the public interest or convenience may require, requires it to do so, that body may do one or more both of the following:

(a)

(1) Order any a street lighting system to be maintained in or along the whole or any part of any one or more of the streets in such the city.

(b)

(2) Order electric current electricity or energy, gas, or other another illuminating agent to be furnished for such a street lighting system.

For

(b) For any of the purposes expressed in subdivision (a) or (b) of this section, paragraph (1) or (2) of subdivision (a), the city council may determine and declare the district to be benefited by any such the improvement and fix the exterior boundaries thereof thereof, and may assess, either partly or wholly, the costs and expenses (including all incidental expenses) expenses, including all incidental expenses, of such the improvement, or of any one or more of the items thereof, upon the lands in the district.
