An act to add and repeal Section 44272.8 to of the Health and Safety Code, relating to vehicular air pollution.

AB 1406, as amended, O’Donnell.
Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program.
Existing law establishes the California Alternative and Renewable Fuel, Vehicle Technology, Clean Air, and Carbon Reduction Act of 2007, which includes the Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program, administered by the State Energy Resources Conservation and Development Commission.
Existing law requires the commission, as part of the Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program, to provide funding measures to certain entities to develop and deploy innovative technologies that transform California’s fuel and vehicle types to help attain the state’s climate change policies. Existing law requires the commission to give preference to those projects that maximize the goals of the program based on specified criteria.
This bill would require the commission, for the
moneys available for allocation as part of the program, until January 1, 2024, to allocate no less than 10% of the moneys available for allocation as part of the program for alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 44272.8 is added to the Health and Safety Code, to read:44272.8.
(a) For the moneys available for allocation pursuant to this article, the commission shall allocate no less than 10 percent of the moneys for alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles.(b) This section shall remain in effect only until January 1, 2024, and as of that date is repealed.
