SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1007

 

 

 

A concurrent RESOLUTION

 

proclaiming September 2015 as General Aviation Appreciation Month in Arizona.

Whereas, general aviation airports play a vital role in Arizona's economy, serving as key economic assets and important links within the national air transportation system; and

Whereas, Arizona has a significant interest in the continued vitality and health of general aviation, aviation organizations and airport operators; and

Whereas, Arizona is home to 83 airports, which serve 17,986 licensed pilots in the state and about 6,561 general aviation aircraft; and

Whereas, Arizona ranks fifth in the United States in active aircraft and twelfth in the number of aircraft per capita according to Federal Aviation Administration data; and

Whereas, Arizona's general aviation airports contribute nearly $609 million in economic impact and create 6,900 jobs; and

Whereas, many communities in Arizona depend on general aviation airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to the state; and

Whereas, general aviation contributes significantly to Arizona's economy and is a key link for Arizona to the global marketplace, facilitating local, national and international commerce as well as supporting the state's tourism industry.

Therefore

Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Arizona, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the Members of the Legislature acknowledge the vital role aviation plays in this state and proclaim the month of September 2015 as General Aviation Appreciation Month in Arizona.
