AN ACT

 

Amending Title 41, chapter 14, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 41-1970; relating to the department of economic security.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 41, chapter 14, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-1970, to read:

START_STATUTE41-1970. Required offices; geographic accessibility; public assistance programs; DES; AHCCCS

A. In addition to any online eligibility or identity verification system, the department shall provide, at all times, geographically accessible offices with consistent hours of operation throughout this state, including on Indian reservations, to allow residents to receive information and applications, provide identification for verification, return applications and maintain eligibility for unemployment compensation, temporary assistance for needy families, the supplemental nutrition assistance program and all programs administered by the Arizona health care cost containment system administration, including medicaid, the Arizona long-term care system and the children's health insurance program.

B. The department of economic security shall coordinate with the Arizona health care cost containment system to comply with the requirements of subsection A of this section. END_STATUTE

Sec. 2. Emergency

This act is an emergency measure that is necessary to preserve the public peace, health or safety and is operative immediately as provided by law.
