AN ACT
appropriating monies to Maricopa county community college district.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Appropriation; Maricopa county community college district; intent
A. The sum of $2,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2020-2021 to Maricopa county community college district.
B. The legislature intends that:
1. The monies appropriated in subsection A of this section be used for the achieving a college education program operated by the Maricopa county community college district and that $500,000 of the monies appropriated in subsection A of this section be used for students in the program who are enrolled in career and technical education courses.
2. The district spend the monies:
(a) To increase participation in the program among high school students.
(b) To pay tuition costs for program participants to enroll in:
(i) Concurrent college courses.
(ii) Summer courses.
(iii) Weekend classes.
3. The program results in an increased number of Native American students who complete high school and successfully transition to higher education, and an increased college completion rate for students who participate in the program.
