AN ACT

 

Amending Title 15, chapter 1, article 8, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding sections 15-189.05 and 15-189.06; relating to charter schools.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 1, article 8, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding sections 15-189.05 and 15‑189.06, to read:

START_STATUTE15-189.05.  Noninstructional personnel salary information; audits

A.  An audit of a charter school that is conducted pursuant to this title shall include an audit of the compensation of noninstructional personnel who are in either an administrative or ownership capacity.  The audit must provide sufficient documentation to justify the total compensation received by these personnel and should consider all methods of compensation for owners and administrators.

B.  for charter schools with fewer than six hundred pupils, Charter school administrator compensation shall be compared to similar personnel in public school districts with fewer than one thousand pupils.  For all other charter schools, Charter school administrator compensation shall be compared to similar personnel in public school districts with not more than fifty percent more than the total number of pupils enrolled in that charter school.END_STATUTE

All Charter school financial information that is required to be reported pursuant to this title must be shared with and monitored by the Auditor General.  END_STATUTE
