AN ACT

 

ESTABLISHING the adult and child services after‑school pilot program; making an appropriation.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Adult and child health services after‑school pilot program; report; delayed repeal

A.  A county school superintendent of a county with a population of at least eight hundred thousand persons but less than two million persons shall establish and administer a one‑year pilot program to fund after‑school programs that focus on adult and child health services, exercise programs and other programs as determined by the county school superintendent in consultation with superintendents of school districts that participate in the pilot program.

B.  The county school superintendent shall submit a written report that summarizes the results of the pilot program to the county board of supervisors on or before September 1, 2015.  The county school superintendent shall provide a copy of this report to the secretary of state.

C.  This section is repealed from and after September 14, 2015.

Sec. 2.  Appropriation; department of education; distribution

The sum of $200,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2013-2014 to the department of education for distribution to county school superintendents for the purpose of funding the pilot program established pursuant to section 1 of this act.
