AN ACT
amending Title 15, chapter 2, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-249.16; appropriating monies; relating to the department of education.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 15, chapter 2, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-249.16, to read:
15-249.16. Report; group A weight and group B weight monies; open enrollment; definitions
A. On or before November 1, 2020 and on or before July 1 every four years thereafter, the department of education shall submit a report that includes statewide data and data by county on the amount of monies generated by all group A weights and all group B weights and the number of students attending school through open enrollment pursuant to section 15‑816.01. The department shall submit this report to the governor, the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives and provide a copy to the secretary of state.
B. For the purposes of this section, "group A" and "group B" have the same meanings prescribed in section 15‑901.
Sec. 2. Department of education; report on gifted education; delayed repeal
A. On or before November 1, 2020, the department of education shall submit a report on the statewide data and data by county for all of the following:
1. The total number of pupils receiving gifted education in school districts and charter schools.
2. The total amount of monies spent by school districts and charter schools on gifted education.
3. The primary services provided to pupils in gifted education programs in school districts and charter schools.
B. The department shall submit the report required by subsection A of this section to the governor, the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives and shall provide a copy to the secretary of state.
C. This section is repealed from and after December 31, 2020.
Sec. 3. Appropriation; department of education; additional assistance for gifted programs
The sum of $1,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2020‑2021 to the department of education for additional assistance for gifted programs pursuant to section 15‑779.03, Arizona Revised Statutes.
