AN ACT

 

Making an appropriation to the department of education for soft capital.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Appropriation; department of education; soft capital

Notwithstanding section 35‑144, Arizona Revised Statutes, the sum of $50,000,000 is appropriated from the budget stabilization fund established by section 35‑144, Arizona Revised Statutes, in fiscal year 2013‑2014 to the department of education for grants for soft capital pursuant to section 15‑962, Arizona Revised Statutes, to school districts based on the percentage of free and reduced price lunches the district was eligible for during the prior fiscal year under the national school lunch and child nutrition acts (42 United States Code sections 1751 through 1793).  The grants shall be used to implement the common core standards adopted by the state board of education and may be used at the discretion of the school district.
