AN ACT

 

Amending title 36, chapter 29, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 36-2923.01; relating to the Arizona health care cost containment system administration.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 36, chapter 29, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 36-2923.01, to read:

START_STATUTE36-2923.01.  Annual report; enrollment; cost avoidance; cost recovery

On or before September 1 of each year, the administration shall report to the joint legislative budget committee, and the joint legislative budget committee shall hold a hearing, on the following:

1.  The amount of money that each contractor remitted to the administration in the immediately preceding fiscal year and why the money was remitted.

2.  The number of death records that were reviewed in the immediately preceding fiscal year compared against current members and the result of the comparison.

3.  The total number of insurance companies that the administration matched claims data against in the immediately preceding fiscal year, the total amount of the claims, the amount of the claims that were paid by private insurers and other third-party payors other than this state or any contractor and whether the claim was paid before or after the administration paid the claim.  The information provided under this paragraph must include the respective amounts for each category reported.

4.  The payment structure for the vendor who is responsible for providing information relating to paragraphs 2 and 3 of this section and whether the payment structure favors cost avoidance to or cost recovery for this state. END_STATUTE
