AN ACT

 

amending Title 15, chapter 2, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-258; relating to the superintendent of public instruction.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 2, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-258, to read:

START_STATUTE15-258.  Advanced placement courses; information

A.  The superintendent of public instruction shall provide the following information about advanced placement courses, including online courses, to school districts on the website maintained by the department of education:

1.  The availability of advanced placement courses.

2.  Resources available to schools that wish to offer advanced placement courses.

3.  Delivery mechanisms for advanced placement courses.

B.  In addition to the information prescribed in subsection A of this section, the superintendent of public instruction shall annually rank school districts and schools based on advanced placement offerings, advanced placement participation and performance on advanced placement examinations.

C.  The superintendent of public instruction shall annually provide information to individual school districts that do not offer advanced placement courses in each of the four academic areas of mathematics, English, science and social studies of the availability of additional advanced placement courses and the potential benefits to the pupils enrolled in that school district if the school district were to offer additional advanced placement courses.
