HOUSE BILL 2419

 

 

 

AN ACT

 

Providing for a university student financial aid study.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  University financial aid study; report; delayed repeal

A.  The Arizona board of regents, in cooperation with the presidents of the universities under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents, shall conduct a study of student financial aid that is awarded by or through the universities in this state. 

B.  The study conducted by the Arizona board of regents shall:

1.  Examine and analyze financial aid practices that are currently used in this state.

2.  Examine and analyze best practices of other states relating to financial aid practices.

3.  Suggest improvements to the financial aid practices in this state.

C.  On or before December 31, 2013, the Arizona board of regents shall submit a report regarding its findings and recommendations to the governor, the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives and provide a copy of its report to the secretary of state.  The report shall include the board's recommendations, including any proposed legislation that may be required to implement the recommendations.

D.  This section is repealed from and after September 30, 2014.
