AN ACT

 

appropriating monies to the department of health services.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Appropriation; department of health services; seed capital; university-based drug research and development; exemption

A.  The sum of $1,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2019-2020 to the department of health services to award seed capital for university-based drug research and development.

B.  The department of health services shall use the monies appropriated in subsection A of this section to award, pursuant to section 36-273, Arizona Revised Statutes, seed capital in increments of $50,000 to departments of the universities of this state for drug research and development.  Recipients may use seed capital awarded by the department for staff salaries, employee-related expenditures and soft capital expenditures, including information technology.

C.  The appropriation made in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations.
