AN ACT

 

amending Title 15, chapter 14, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-1826; relating to postsecondary education.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 14, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-1826, to read:

START_STATUTE15-1826.  Notice of employment statistics

A.  Community colleges under the jurisdiction of a community college district and universities under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents shall provide the following information to students who are enrolled in any program of instruction, course, class or other academic exercise and to the students' parents:

1.  The national employment statistics associated with the majority of students who have successfully completed the course of study or degree associated with that program of instruction, course, class or other academic exercise.

2.  A warning that participation in that program of instruction, course, class or other academic exercise may not result in the student's employability.

B.  Community colleges and universities shall make available to the public the information required by subsection A of this section.

C.  This section does not restrict or prohibit:

1.  Students and parents from paying for classes that statistically do not improve chances for future employment.

2.  Students from engaging in any program of instruction, course, class or other academic exercise that may have little or no marketable skills or measurable worth to an employer, to society or to the student. END_STATUTE
