AN ACT

 

amending section 41-115, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to substance use education.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Section 41-115, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:

START_STATUTE41-115.  Alcohol, tobacco, electronic smoking devices and drug education; appropriation; definition

A.  The governor's office of youth, faith and family or the department of health services may partner with state and local education agencies and facility‑based nonprofit youth development organizations to annually teach children in grades five through twelve about the health dangers of federally defined illegal substances, tobacco, electronic smoking devices, alcohol, marijuana, opioids and nonprescription pharmaceuticals.

B.  The sum of $1,000,000 is appropriated from the health education account established by section 36‑772, Arizona Revised Statutes, in each fiscal year to the department of health services for the purposes provided in this section.

B.  C.  For the purposes of this section, "facility‑based nonprofit youth development organization" means an organization that provides proven and tested recreational, educational and character‑building programs for children who are at least six and under nineteen years of age. END_STATUTE
