AN ACT

 

amending Title 15, chapter 14, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding article 11; relating to community colleges and universities.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 14, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding article 11, to read:

ARTICLE 11.  CARRYING OF CONCEALED FIREARMS

START_STATUTE15-1896.  Carrying of concealed firearms by faculty members; definition

A.  Notwithstanding any other law, a faculty member may possess a concealed firearm on the grounds of a community college under the jurisdiction of a community college district, a provisional community college under the jurisdiction of a provisional community college district or a university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents if the faculty member possesses a valid permit issued pursuant To section 13-3112.

B.  For the purposes of this section, "faculty member" means a person who is employed by a community college under the jurisdiction of a community college district, a provisional community college under the jurisdiction of a provisional community college district or a university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents to conduct classroom or teaching activities and whose title includes professor, associate professor, assistant professor, instructor or lecturer.� Faculty member does not include any person who is in a position that is designated as a visiting, adjunct, research, clinical, teaching assistant or associate or research assistant or associate position.
