FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 75 as passed the Senate would authorize probate courts to preside over proceedings changing the name of certain minors which could increase receipts to the various county treasuries and judge of probates by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of proceedings conducted to change the name of minors.

In addition, this bill could increase the obligations of certain probate judges to issue elder abuse protection orders by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of proceedings presided over by probate judges, which could be offset, in whole or in part, by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of elder abuse protection cases heard by the probate court and the applicable fees charged.

Finally, this bill could reduce revenues to the State General Fund, county general funds, and other funds that court fees are distributed to, by an undetermined amount, dependent upon the number of protective placement or other protective services cases are heard in the probate court instead of the circuit court.
