FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 217 as amended and reported by the Committee on Education Policy increases, by ten, the number of days a member of the State Textbook Committee can be reimbursed in any one school year for per diem and travel expenses for attending committees which could increase the obligations of the State Department of Education by an estimated $3,500 per additional meeting held by the committee.

This bill also eliminates the current requirement of the Department to furnish textbook purchasing contracts to the Alabama Department of Mental Health.
