FISCAL NOTE

House Bill 554 as passed the House of Representatives would increase the obligations of the Alabama G.I. Dependents Scholarship Program, funded from the Education Trust Fund, by an undetermined amount dependent on: (1) the number of students with intellectual disabilities that are eligible to receive educational benefits to attend comprehensive transition and postsecondary programs at any of the four Alabama state institutions of higher education; (2) the Department of Defense Tuition Assistance Cap reimbursement rates; (3) the amount of books and fees, which are capped at $1,000 per semester; and (4) the amount of time reimbursements would be allowed, up to 45 months pursuant to the current provisions of the program.
