WHEREAS, Jon Robert Tabb, an honorable veteran, accomplished information technology manager, and beloved member of the Prince George County community, died on August 29, 2023; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of Matthew Fontaine Maury High School in Norfolk, where he set multiple swimming records, Jon Tabb attended Old Dominion University for a year before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1967; and
WHEREAS, after proudly serving his country with the United States Navy for six years, Jon Tabb returned to Old Dominion University and earned a bachelor's degree; and
WHEREAS, following graduation, Jon Tabb worked for some time in the computer sciences department at Old Dominion University before moving to Colonial Heights to serve as an information technology manager for Philip Morris International until his retirement in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Jon Tabb became an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America in 1966 and throughout his life encouraged others to join the organization and seek the elite distinction of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, Jon Tabb found great joy in researching his family history and over the years developed and maintained meticulous records detailing the generations on both sides of his family, the Tabbs and Buzzards; and
WHEREAS, among his interests and hobbies, Jon Tabb particularly enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Barbara and spending time with his friends at the Tar Bay Gun Club; and
WHEREAS, Jon Tabb will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara; his children, Melisa and Kristen, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Jon Robert Tabb, a treasured member of the Prince George County community whose kind and generous spirit touched countless lives; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Jon Robert Tabb as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for his memory.
