WHEREAS, Virginia Staton, an outstanding educator who works to ensure that students are fully engaged in the learning process and who works to enhance the field of education, was named Fluvanna County Public Schools Teacher of the Year in May 2015; and WHEREAS, backed by 23 years of teaching experience, Virginia Staton serves as chair of the Social Studies Department and teaches sixth-grade language arts at Fluvanna County Middle School; and WHEREAS, Virginia Staton serves as a member of the Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee and works directly with students as a case manager, ensuring that her charges are sufficiently challenged by the curriculum; and WHEREAS, a leader in and out of the classroom, Virginia Staton is a staff representative for the local parent-teacher organization and strives to build meaningful relationships among teachers and administrators and the community; and WHEREAS, respected by her students and peers alike for her positive attitude, insightful wisdom, and innovative problem-solving skills, Virginia Staton is an invaluable member of both the school system and the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Virginia Staton hereby be commended on being named Fluvanna County Public Schools Teacher of the Year in 2015; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Virginia Staton as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for her dedication to her students and for her service to Fluvanna County. |
