WHEREAS, Jill D. Neice, a distinguished law-enforcement officer, retired as chief of the Pulaski Police Department in January 2024; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of New River Community College, Radford University, and the New River Criminal Justice Training Academy, Jill Neice spent her entire 25-year career in law enforcement with the Pulaski Police Department; and
WHEREAS, after joining the department as a patrol officer in 1998, Jill Neice worked her way up through the ranks to become a detective sergeant, then lieutenant of the patrol division, in which capacity she served for six years; and
WHEREAS, Jill Neice built strong relationships based on mutual trust and respect with members of the community and was highly admired by her fellow officers and local officials for her professionalism and dedication to duty; and
WHEREAS, Jill Neice began serving as interim chief of the Pulaski Police Department in June 2021, then was officially selected as chief the following September; and
WHEREAS, Jill Neice served the Pulaski community with integrity and distinction; she received two Distinguished Service Awards, an Officer of the Year award, and many other accolades and commendations over the course of her career; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Jill D. Neice hereby be commended on the occasion of her retirement as chief of the Pulaski Police Department; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jill D. Neice as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for her many years serving and protecting the residents of Pulaski and her outstanding legacy of contributions to the community.
