SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 63
Celebrating the life of John Joseph Digges.
 
Agreed to by the Senate, March 10, 2016
 

WHEREAS, John Joseph Digges, a business owner, farmer, and active volunteer in Bohannon, died on July 14, 2015; and

WHEREAS, a native of Baltimore, John Digges earned a bachelor's degree from Loyola University Maryland and served his country honorably as a member of the United States Coast Guard; and

WHEREAS, John Digges enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the construction industry, serving as owner, president, and chief executive officer of Bush Construction Company; he was an active partner in Plantation Group and several other organizations that developed thousands of housing units; and

WHEREAS, John Digges was an accomplished world traveler and a passionate outdoorsman, who shared his love of hunting and fishing with friends and family; he spent much of his time on his beloved Edgewater Farm; and

WHEREAS, a man who lived his faith through his actions, John Digges was a devout Catholic and enjoyed fellowship and worship with several congregations throughout his life; he cherished opportunities to support churches and communities through volunteer efforts; and

WHEREAS, a devoted family man, John Digges was predeceased by his first wife, Mary; he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Linda; children, Mary, Nuncia, Sarah, Margaret, Anne, Virginia, Ralph, James, Anna, and Mark, and their families; and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of John Joseph Digges, an entrepreneur, farmer, volunteer, and admired member of the Bohannon community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of John Joseph Digges as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for his memory.
