SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 53
Celebrating the life of T.K. Weiler.

 

Agreed to by the Senate, February 15, 2024

 

WHEREAS, T.K. Weiler, the highly respected former fire chief of Williamsburg and a loving husband, father, and friend, died on January 23, 2024; and

WHEREAS, T.K. "Buz" Weiler served the nation as a member of the United States Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Little Rock; and

WHEREAS, Buz Weiler served and safeguarded the residents of Williamsburg and the surrounding counties for 43 years as a firefighter and a dynamic, forward-thinking leader in public safety; and

WHEREAS, as fire chief, Buz Weiler modernized the Williamsburg Fire Department and ensured that his troops, as he called them, had the tools and training they needed to protect the lives and property of local residents; and

WHEREAS, Buz Weiler served the Williamsburg community with dedication, integrity, and distinction, earning countless certifications, awards, accolades, and honors over the course of his career; and

WHEREAS, guided by his faith in all his actions, Buz Weiler enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a member of Saint Bede Catholic Church, where he served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults teacher; he also attended CrossWalk Church in Norge, where he was active in the men's ministry; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his first wife, Audrey, Buz Weiler will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his beloved wife of 44 years, Margie; his children and their families; and numerous other family members, friends, and fellow firefighters; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of T.K. Weiler, a longtime firefighter who made many contributions to the Williamsburg community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of T.K. Weiler as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for his memory.
