Commending the 4-H clubs and Future Farmers of America chapters in Washington County.

WHEREAS, the 4-H clubs and Future Farmers of America chapters in Washington County have provided exceptional educational opportunities to young people while championing the agricultural and farming industries of Washington County and the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, there are currently 128 4-H clubs in Washington County that serve a membership of more than 6,000 young people and more than 550 volunteers; over the years, many 4-H members in Washington County have served in leadership positions on the Virginia 4-H cabinet, while several others have earned Virginia 4-H recognitions, including induction into the Virginia 4-H All Stars, the organization's highest honor; and
WHEREAS, the Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters in Washington County are at Abingdon High School, Holston High School, John S. Battle High School, and Patrick Henry High School; several members of these chapters have won state contests or earned FFA degrees, demonstrating a deep commitment to the organization's mission to promote and support agricultural education; and
WHEREAS, the 4-H clubs and FFA chapters of Washington County have regularly visited the General Assembly to advocate on behalf of the agricultural industry and farmers of the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, through advocacy, local partnerships and programs, and other activities, the 4-H clubs and FFA chapters in Washington County have made a profound and lasting impact on agriculture in Washington County and the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the 4-H clubs and Future Farmers of America chapters in Washington County hereby be commended for their legacy of service; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the 4-H clubs and Future Farmers of America chapters in Washington County as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for their contributions to Washington County and the Commonwealth.
