SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 58
Commending LeadingAge Virginia.

WHEREAS, for the past 50 years, the tireless efforts of countless individuals and members of LeadingAge Virginia have expanded the world of possibilities for all aging adults in the Commonwealth and improved their quality of life through compassionate care; and

WHEREAS, these efforts, made with open hearts and minds, have taken many expanding forms since LeadingAge Virginia's outset in 1973, including programs that provide housing, specialized physical and emotional care, and other services to Virginia's aging population, as well as initiatives that promote awareness of the unique contributions, distinctions, and value of nonprofit organizations in serving older adults; and

WHEREAS, LeadingAge Virginia has made a profound and lasting impact by creating a positive aging experience for Virginians, addressing their unique aging needs and helping them to live with dignity, respect, and independence, all while embracing their diverse perspectives; and

WHEREAS, LeadingAge Virginia has fulfilled its mission through the tremendous contributions of employees and volunteers who have dedicated their time, resources, and energy to the aging services field; their achievements have helped create a better future for older adults and promoted a culture of respect, compassion, and inclusivity for all; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend LeadingAge Virginia on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to LeadingAge Virginia as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's important mission to support older adults and ensure that all Virginians maintain opportunities to continue to participate fully in their communities as they age.
