SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 55
Celebrating the life of Zenobia Helen Miller Taylor.

WHEREAS, Zenobia Helen Miller Taylor, a former educator and a vibrant member of the Hampton community who touched countless lives through her kindness and grace, died on June 4, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Zenobia Taylor grew up in Fort Valley, Georgia, where she attended public schools; she later earned a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from what is now Hampton University and ultimately stayed in Hampton for more than 70 years; and

WHEREAS, after her youngest child started kindergarten, Zenobia Taylor began working for Hampton City Schools as a teacher's aide and an early childhood educator; she also worked at Hampton University's laboratory school, an elementary school run by the institution; and

WHEREAS, Zenobia Taylor offered her time and talents to the Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the American Association of University Women, and the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Zenobia Taylor enjoyed fellowship and worship with the Hampton community as an active member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, Zenobia Taylor brought joy to others through her warm spirit and generosity; she went out of her way to make everyone feel special and worked to find beauty in everyday life; and

WHEREAS, through her wisdom and personal strength, Zenobia Taylor helped countless family members and friends stay positive during challenging times; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Wilford, Sr., and one son, James, Zenobia Taylor will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Wilford, Jr., Jill, and Michelle, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Zenobia Helen Miller Taylor, a beloved member of the Hampton community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Zenobia Helen Miller Taylor as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
