WHEREAS, Teresa Darlene McDowney, an esteemed member of the Westmoreland County Sheriff's Office and beloved member of the Colonial Beach community, died on February 22, 2024; and
WHEREAS, from 2013 to 2020, Teresa McDowney served as an animal control officer with the King George County Sheriff's Office, working tirelessly to ensure the safety of King George County residents and the humane treatment of animals in her jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, Teresa McDowney most recently served as the animal shelter manager, animal control officer, and animal advocate at the Westmoreland County Sheriff's Office, where her experience and expertise proved vital to the agency's mission; and
WHEREAS, Teresa McDowney's dedication to the care of animals and the safety of her community was unwavering, and she would often answer calls at all hours of the night to assist others with their animal-related matters; and
WHEREAS, Teresa McDowney never hesitated to support her family, friends, and the community, and was admired for her straightforward approach to any challenge she faced; and
WHEREAS, Teresa McDowney will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her loving husband, Kevin; her son, Nathaniel; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Teresa Darlene McDowney, a cherished member of the Colonial Beach community whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Teresa Darlene McDowney as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
