SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 179
Celebrating the life of Joshua Chamberlain Peck.

WHEREAS, Joshua Chamberlain Peck, a beloved member of the Williamsburg community who made a lasting impact on his family, teammates, and school community through his kindness and unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others, died on December 30, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Joshua Peck was born in Landstuhl, Germany, near Ramstein Air Base; as the child of a military family, he traveled often and developed an appreciation for other cultures and world cuisine; and

WHEREAS, Joshua Peck exemplified the ideals of lifelong learning, personal integrity, and servant-leadership, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him; and

WHEREAS, Joshua Peck's memory will endure through the countless lives he touched while exploring passions in swimming, cooking, playing guitar, Cub Scouts, photography, and researching old technology, airplanes, and vintage Volkswagens; and

WHEREAS, a cherished member of the campus community at Laurel Lane Elementary School, Joshua Peck's compassion and dedication to the greater good were inspirational for teachers, staff, and fellow students; and

WHEREAS, Joshua Peck's legacy will continue through Josh's Kindness Squad at Laurel Lane Elementary School, an initiative that has inspired thousands of student-led service hours through small acts of kindness, such as writing encouraging notes, making posters to thank bus drivers, delivering hot chocolate and snacks to school staff, and building gardens; and

WHEREAS, Joshua Peck's amazing accomplishments and extraordinary contributions to the community left a lasting imprint on the hearts and minds of all who knew him; and

WHEREAS, Joshua Peck will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his parents, Christina and Matthew; his siblings, James and Josephine; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Joshua Chamberlain Peck, an inspirational young man whose kindness and selfless contributions shaped his community for years to come; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Joshua Chamberlain Peck as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
